A state normally known for liberal politics, perhaps the boldest statement is the 252-foot billboard by Lansdowne Street overlooking the Mass. Pike.
For the past 13 years, activist John Rosenthal has decorated the edifice with a series of direct, bold advertisements for gun control.
The newest billboard features a satirical gun show advertisement.
STOP HANDGUN VIOLENCE is a non-profit organization committed to the prevention of gun violence through education, public awareness, effective law enforcement and common sense gun laws. With 83 gun deaths in the U.S. everyday—more than Columbine and Virginia Tech combined—it's time we start putting lives before politics. We are not calling for restrictions to our Constitutional Rights, but just common sense legislation that will help save lives. View Site.

Dutch designer Iris van Herpen takes inspiration from industrial smoke in her latest collection.
Dazed Digital: What was the inspiration for your collection SS09 collection 'Refinery Smoke'?
Iris Van Herpen: I have been passing refineries many times in my life, the grey, tragic look of it inspires me, especially the beautiful fluently crawling smoke, which is so beautiful when looking at it, but you get this stange feeling because it should not be there. I tried to capture the look of the industrial smoke together with the contradiction of the refinery. I also wonder if we will always be wearing clothes/fabrics, or would it be possible in future to wear other substances like smoke?

Helvetica - a documentary film by Gary Hustwit is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type. Helvetica encompasses the worlds of design, advertising, psychology, and communication, and invites us to take a second look at the thousands of words we see every day.
Interviewees in Helvetica include some of the most illustrious and innovative names in the design world, including Erik Spiekermann, Matthew Carter, Massimo Vignelli, Wim Crouwel, Hermann Zapf, Neville Brody, Stefan Sagmeister, Michael Bierut, David Carson, Paula Scher, Jonathan Hoefler, Tobias Frere-Jones, Experimental Jetset, Michael C. Place, Norm, Alfred Hoffmann, Mike Parker, Bruno Steinert, Otmar Hoefer, Leslie Savan, Rick Poynor, Lars Muller, and many more.
Helvetica is now available as a digital download for USA iTunes users.

The global design firm touts its first site overhaul in seven years.
IDEO project lead Valerie Casey and her team have revamped their company's website to provide an all-encompassing view of its culture, one she herself describes as "transparent, messy and highly creative."
In doing so, Casey & crew have bathed IDEO.com in tiles of assorted, pink-coated web pages that are tethered to three specific sections of the site. Each of the three sections is highlighted in black on the landing page and cover in-depth everything from IDEO thinking, its creative culture and featured work to news, R+D innovations and its various services.
As a little shortcut, by mousing over any of the three black tiles, you’ll highlight a specific group of pink pages that you can directly access without having to scour through each section.
