THONET, WHICH MAKES ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS CHAIRS IN THE WORLD, COMMISSIONS A HIGH-END BIKE TO SHOW OFF ITS WOOD-BENDING PROCESS.
The Thonet Chair Company must have been astonishing to see at the 1851 World’s Fair. In presenting simple seats made of gracefully curved, steam-bent wood, they bucked centuries of convention, countless generations of heavy, formal, carved furniture.

A London graphic designer has created a new take on cycling route signage that could change the way we find our way or get lost in the capital.
San Francisco-based product and graphic design firm Shape Field Office is run by the husband-and-wife team of Karson and Mary Shadley. Shape Field contracted Nicholas Riddle, a colleague of Karson’s at California College of the Arts, to design and build the Shape Field Bike.
