London Underground (Tube) Map - Design Classics

by R27 CREATIVELAB on Monday 9 March 2009

The change from a map to a diagram by Harry Beck in the 1930s, rejecting true geography for the sake of clarity. From my early years of studying one of the cleverest pieces of information design in my eyes is the map of the London Underground. The use of colour, type and clean lines are easy to follow and over the years of development of the underground transport system with its extensions and closures the basic idea/layout still works. Its one of the must have tools if visiting the capital city.
