Once again with the new series of TB, I have to let you know that I'm the guy who at the end of the title sequence of Se7en let out a little hushed "YES" amongst the dark cinema audience. I got my moneys worth then, the rest of the movie was a bonus. Until of course when the end credits surprised me again when the credits rolled down the screen with the worn/distressed graphical elements. See below....
Which brings me to the intro sequence of True Blood it's in my eyes "absolutely splendid" capturing the feel, lifestyle and attitudes of the characters/community in the show perfectly. It even makes you feel slightly uneasy but luckily the very dark humour in the show hits the spot....
The song is by Jace Everett and is titled "Bad Things". The True Blood version is a little different from the original, slightly countryesque by hey what I know about country music wouldn't fill a tweet even if you worked on it 9 to 5
Lyrics to True Blood
"When you came in, the air went out
And every shadow, filled up with doubt
I don't know who you think you are
But before the night is through
I wanna do bad things with you.
I'm the kind who sit up in his room
Heart-sick and eyes filled up with blue
I don't know what you've done to me
But I know this much is true:
I wanna do bad things with you. Okay."
So here goes and dont' forget to check out the making of the sequence....

In March 2009, Suzanne (wife) and I spent several days in Rome to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. This was also a chance to observe in detail the Coliseum, which I'd already selected as the next subject in my series of letterpress posters (see cameronmoll.bigcartel.com/category/posters).
Over the course of the next 12 months, the artwork was handcrafted character by character, totaling roughly 250 hours of work from start to finish. Characters from the Goudy Trajan and Bembo Pro typefaces form the Coliseum, also known as today as Colosseo (Italian) and originally known as Amphitheatrum Flavium (Latin).
Printed at Bjørn Press in Provo, Utah. bjornpress.com
I shot the video shown here using a Canon 7D, with Suzanne's assistance for my interview segment. Edited with Final Cut Express. I picked up the 7D literally the day before shooting at Bjørn Press, so I still have lots to learn. (I botched my interview part by failing to turn off sharpening before shooting and by not having Suzanne sit at the same height while interviewing me, hence my eyes focus differently in each segment. But oh well, it is what it is.)
The opening segment was filmed at 1280/60fps, then in FCE it was slowed down and resized to fit the rest of the footage, which was shot at 1920/30fps. The 7D makes it really easy to pull off high-quality slow motion.
Font used for the titles is Bembo Pro.

"Skinput, a technology that appropriates the human body for acoustic transmission, allowing the skin to be used as a finger input surface. In particular, we resolve the location of finger taps on the arm and hand by analyzing mechanical vibrations that propagate through the body. We collect these signals using a novel array of sensors worn as an armband. This approach provides an always-available, naturally-portable, and on-body interactive surface. To illustrate the potential of our approach, we developed several proof-of-concept applications on top of our sensing and classification system. "

"The shoes we received were AIR MAX 360, which emphasizes the air in the soles more than any other
NIKE shoe. So we decided to create something based on the concept of air, the main quality of this model.
What we did was keep the soles filled with air as is, but take off the upper part of the shoe and use it to mold a clear material into that shape. This became an aquarium for goldfish, a representative aquarium fish in Japan.
What you can see from the relationship between a goldfish and air in this microcosm, a shoe, is the human society and the microcosm that contains it. It’s the relationship between the earth/nature and creatures, and the correlation between athletes and NIKE, who contributes to the characteristics of the human body by giving air to shoes. That is the thinking behind the name of this art piece, the ABUKU (Japanese “BUBBLE”).
We hope that the people who see this small aquarium built on NIKE Air will stop to think about the artificial/natural environments that surround us and the connection between humans and other living creatures."
